Football World CupAfrica Cup of Nations Drama in the arena

Upsets and victories flooded the sports scene in what can only be described as a dramatic weekend. Ghana coasted to the semis of the Africa Cup of Nations at the expense of the hosts Algeria in a 1-0 victory thanks to an Asamoah Gyan goal.
Algeria pulled a fast one on Ivory Coast and beat them 3-2 after extra time due to a late goal from substitute striker Hameur Bouzza. It had initially looked like the Ivorians had it in the bag as they went ahead in the opening four minutes of the game through a Salomon Kalou goal but the Algerians held their wind.

Arsenal gunned down

The Gunners FA cup campaign came to a painful halt after revamped Stoke City beat the 3-1. Jamaican forward Ricardo Fuller scored twice and Dean Whitehead completed the score sheet to make sure the Gunners had no say in the game and consequently toppled out of the FA Cup. This defeat came hot on the tail of a massive win that Arsenal had against Bolton in the premier league. This was Stoke City’s first ever English FA Cup victory over the famous London club.

‘Floodies’

The clubs category at this year’s floodlight rugby tournament resulted in surprise win as Nakuru RFC came from behind to defeat a KCB second side that had led the game for most of the time. The game ended at 18-13 courtesy of a late try from Aggrey Omiyo who winged a five man Nakuru overlap to secure the win.
Other games were walk overs for the regular big guns like Resolution Impala who white washed USIU a whooping 80 to 3. Mean Machine also slammed down Impala’s second side with ease leading to a 44 to nil victory.
Big shots Mwamba came face to face with counterparts KCB Lions and received a walloping of 42 points to 3 of their own points.
Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti is not a pleased man after Chelsea mid-fielder with Michael Essien suffered an injury scare after a collision in training.
